Worst Dead Show I ever Saw
I remember leaving after the show, and telling my buddy Bill, "what the fuck was that? That was the worst Dead show I ever saw! The April fools joke is on us." I'd still give my left nut to go to the worst show ever though! Even more painful is the fact that the next night they played Help/Slip/Franklin's and Scarlet/Fire, and sounded way better than this.
You've got to check out the vid of the Barney bit via Iko Iko...Phil went into detail in his book about how confused Jerry was when he was the purple terror out there, as he then couldn't figure out where the bass was coming from...

Picked up a little steam from the previous nights.
Highlights: Desolation Row (Bobby at the end), Eternity (Nice guitar work on this one)

Great 93 set list but mostly played in 93 fashion. Best Live Days by far Better then the one on so many roads box set which is a rehearsal..., Except the jam at the end is much better on the box set

The Days between is ok,and although Days Between could be an epic song,it pretty much sucked shit 95 percent of the time, there is maybe 3 good ones out there

Crazy fun good energy solid show. You want me to give it a rating. 3 star is middle of the road and the boys could of jammed the songs harder but still worth a listen exspecially if you were there.

My first Dead show came as a stroke of luck. My employer had gotten the tickets for his birthday and wound up passing them along to myself and another co-worker for some unknown reason. The show was awesome and I could not believe my eyes when Barney came out to play bass on Iko Iko. The only downfall to the show was that my car radio antenna was stolen when I returned to the parking lot.

Download "They love Each Other" They really nail it. Garcia solo is tight lots of interplay with Bobby and Phil vince lays down a funky solo to. Sounds more like a late 70's JGB than the Dead. Certainly the best since summer 90 which were epic but this one is right up there. Minglewood is high energy and very well played great solos and bobs vocals are inspired. Soulful Candyman. Remencent of the 87' spring Garcia Comeback. Big Cheers for the "Candymans Back in Town" line and a cleaner less distorted than usual solo. Desolation Row is average. Stagger is upbeat with more kick than usual. Great extended jam at the end makes the Staggers from 93' some of the best out there. Eternity sucks. Really takes the wind out of the sails and and unispired liberty follows. Great 1st set up to DEs Row. Good Stagger. all in all solid 3. Funky Iko into a very good Saint. A little bit subdued like the early 80's. Crazyfingers is also slower paced than usual. I Like the Long Way" palcement out of Space Days between is poignant and powerful. Rain encore was a nice touch to a very mellow second set.

Barney the Purple Dinosaur feigning bass while Phil plays behind the rack on Iko. Good Ol' April Fools!!
I started out with a 3 star rating for this show, but I have bumped this up to a 4, maybe a weak 4, but I do think it is strong for Spring 93. Days Between is excellent.
Sloppy show...however the Days Between is worth a listen, as is the Way to Go. Wave to the Wind, as always, is a train wreck (sorry Phil!)

My first show
Hitchhiked from Lake Placid, NY to Nassau Coliseum for my first show. Met up with some friends coming from the Albany shows. I remember having to sit down during Drums/Space, I was overwhelmed. Not the greatest show but the first SBD I've found. Barney the purple dinosaur on bass for Phil's kids was fun.
